Management and Health & Safety Representatives from GEV Wind Power attended the SGRE NEME Region Annual Contractors Safety Conference in The Hague this week and were delighted to walk away with two awards. This accolade commends the exemplary safety observation reporting conducted by our dedicated technicians on projects throughout 2023, as well as the ongoing developments and innovation to further enhance technician safety processes.

The two awards included ‘Innovation in safety’ for the development of new initiatives to improve safety rescue drills combined with LEP skills training, and ‘Safety performance & delivery’ for the record number of safety observations reported by GEV technicians during 2023.

The recognition builds on the success at the awards ceremony last year where GEV were awarded the ‘Major Projects Division Overall Winner for Safety Performance Delivery’. The remarkable increased safety reporting across all divisions, led by our QHSE team and in-field technicians, saw 900+ observations submitted throughout the 2023 season highlighting the commitment to fostering a safe working environment and the evolving safety culture developed within the workplace.

The awards serve as a testament to the GEV approach, emphasising the dedication to proactive health and safety reporting from everyone within the GEV Group. It underscores the pivotal role our technicians play in setting industry standards and championing awareness of secure work environments.

George Guy, Group QHSE Manager, expressed his gratitude at the conference, stating:

“It was an honour to receive the awards on behalf of the wider GEV team. I would like to say a big thank you to all of our employees and contractors who have been the driving force behind the achievement.

At GEV Wind Power, commitment to health and safety is ingrained in our core values. We take immense pride in having a team that genuinely values the importance of health and safety. Our proactive approach ensures potential on-site hazards are identified and assessed promptly, whilst also highlighting positive safety practices. This not only allows our expert in-field team to work efficiently, but also minimises downtime, and helps us to uphold an incident-free working environment.”
