One Year of GEV Taiwan: Building Local Capability, Delivering Global Expertise

One year ago, GEV Wind Power established a dedicated Division to support the growing offshore market across the Asia-Pacific region, starting in Taiwan.

Twelve months later, that commitment has grown into a thriving operation supporting major wind energy projects across the region.

First Major Offshore Wind Contract Secured

In the first quarter of 2026, the team secured its first major contract, providing comprehensive maintenance and technical services to offshore wind assets in Taiwan. This included the routine maintenance of rotor blade assets, for which the company is a recognised market leader globally.

The contract reflected the confidence operators place in GEV’s ability to deliver world-class turbine maintenance services. It also demonstrated the value of GEV’s investment in the domestic market, enabling support to be delivered through a local team, established on-the-ground infrastructure, and full compliance with local regulations.

Taichung Service Hub Established

Following the establishment of GEV’s Service Hub based in Taichung, Taiwan, the team successfully mobilised more than 110+ in-field technicians to support the large-scale offshore campaigns. Working alongside our customers and project partners, GEV delivered critical services that help keep turbines operating safely, efficiently, and reliably throughout the season.

From in-field technicians to project managers, coordinators, and support teams behind the scenes, every campaign has been driven by a shared commitment to quality, safety, and collaboration.

As Taiwan’s offshore wind sector continues to expand, the demand for experienced specialist support has never been greater. Establishing a local presence has enabled GEV to respond more quickly to customer needs, build stronger industry relationships, and deliver solutions tailored to the regional market.

Throughout the year, our teams have supported customers across a range of maintenance and blade repair campaigns, helping maximise asset performance and minimise downtime during critical operational periods.

What has stood out most during the past year has been the strength of the local industry and the people driving it forward.

From project owners and operators to contractors and technicians, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside organisations committed to advancing Taiwan’s clean energy future.

Health & Safety Commitment

Throughout our first year in Taiwan, GEV Wind Power has maintained its strong commitment to health and safety, continuing the high standards the company is known for globally.

Earlier this year, Head of APAC Operations Emma Mason and GEV Group CEO, David Fletcher, met with the team onboard the vessel to recognise their exceptional health and safety performance.

Despite some extreme weather challenges during the early season, the in-field team worked to exceptional standards of health and safety this season.

‘For me, this is a really proud moment, to witness GEV Wind Power’s first service teams being deployed in Taiwan. They have exceeded all of our client requirements, going above and beyond. A huge “well done” to the whole team’ commented Emma Mason.

Looking Ahead

While we are incredibly proud of what has been achieved during our first year in Taiwan, this is only the beginning of the journey.

As the market continues to develop, GEV Wind Power remains committed to investing in local capabilities, supporting customers throughout the asset lifecycle, and helping strengthen the skilled workforce that underpins the offshore wind industry.

To everyone who has contributed to this journey, including our employees, technicians, customers, and partners, thank you for helping make our first year in Taiwan such a success.

We look forward to building on these foundations and supporting the industry’s continued growth for many years to come.
