Reflecting on 2025 at GEV Wind Power

Another successful year at GEV Wind Power is drawing to a close. Throughout 2025, GEV has ventured into new locations, developed new partnerships, and grown more than ever as a global leader in wind turbine maintenance and blade repair. In this blog post, we celebrate our key highlights and achievements, including some pipeline developments for GEV Wind Power and the wider GEV Group as we look ahead into the new year.

Project Milestones

Earlier this season, GEV Wind Power saw the completion of a major Leading Edge Protection (LEP) campaign led by GEV’s UK/EU division. The work which began in April, was a milestone success for the industry as the largest offshore LEP campaigns ever conducted in the North Sea. The project was undertaken by a team of 66 wind turbine technicians across two major offshore wind farms and consisted of the installation of more than 1,600 LEP shells on over 411 wind turbine blades.

Our team also ventured into new project locations, successfully completing GEV’s first ever blade repair project in South Africa earlier this year. The 6-month project consisted of complex blade repairs and crucial blade maintenance.

Overall, the wider GEV Group completed more than 300 projects worldwide, spanning North America, Europe, Australia, and the Asia-Pacific region. With a strong international presence, GEV Wind Power is now delivering year-round services, supporting wind farms across all seasons.

Certek investment in GEV Wind Power

In May 2025, it was announced that Certek made a significant investment in GEV Wind Power, a landmark deal enabling further growth opportunities and international expansion for the GEV Group.

The investment, backed by Macquarie Capital Principal Finance supports GEV’s continued growth, strengthening its role in the clean energy transition and backing the existing leadership team under GEV Group CEO, David Fletcher.

Our business plays a critical role in supporting the generation of clean energy, as we actively maintain the operational performance of wind turbines and help to reduce downtime. With Certek’s backing, we will continue to increase our support infrastructure for our clients and play an active part in supply chain solutions, focusing on the consistent delivery of quality and safety that our clients demand across all key geographies where we operate.

Armed Forces Gold Award

We are pleased to share that GEV’s UK division received the highest honour of the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), the prestigious Gold Award, in recognition of GEV’s ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.

The achievement, which was awarded in July, is a testament to our values and our collective dedication to supporting the armed forces community through fair opportunities, active support, and long-term engagement. We remain proud advocates for those who serve and have served.

Training & Career Development

Throughout 2025, GEV Wind Power has continued to strengthen its global network of academy facilities, helping to bridge the skills gap for wind technicians through investment in new training opportunities across the UK and North America.

In preparation for the 2026 season, GEV UK is expanding its in-house technician training package in collaboration with the Port of Blyth, building on the existing success of the facilities established in 2024. A new purpose-built indoor training centre will be developed adjacent to the existing outdoor facilities, enabling year-round delivery and enhanced capabilities for blade repair and rope access training.

In the U.S, the North American Wind Academy is seeing further expansion, launching new 3rd party training services to meet the growing demands for GWO-certified courses in the North American wind industry. Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, the academy will introduce new courses in 2026, allowing technicians to book a range of GWO-accredited courses, including GWO Blade Repair, Basic Safety Training, and Basic Technical Training.

Safety

This year, we recorded a record 1500+ positive safety observations across the GEV Group for 2025. From proactive reporting, to raising safety awareness, our in-field teams have continued to demonstrate exceptional commitment to safety this season.

We are proud to be recognised as one of the leading Independent Service Providers for safety within the wind industry, made possible by the dedication of our technicians and back-office project teams.

‘The single biggest highlight for me has been the continued maturity of our safety culture. The collective proactive approach to identifying and resolving hazards before they cause harm, in my opinion is industry leading.

Due to this culture, you keep not only yourself safe but your friends and colleagues safe. That means we achieve the most important goal of all; going home to our family and friends.’
